Verified ReviewerBank Fraud
- Unauthorized online checking account opened in my name; LifeLock alerted Feb 1, 2022; close it now; PA requires in-branch identity.
Someone is committing bank Fraud by trying use my personal information to open an unauthorized online checking account in my name. I was alerted by Life Lock this morning February 1st 2022.
I want this account closed immediately. I don't understand why your bank allows people to open online bank accounts without making them come into the bank to actually prove who they are by showing the photo ID and social security card I live in Pittsburgh Pa and I did not open this account.
In Pennsylvania they make people come into the bank to prove that they have all the correct credentials. Your bank is making easy for ID thieves and Scammers to commit Identity theft.

Verified ReviewerCustomer Service collapsed after Merger
- BB&T merged into Truist Bank.
- There are errors and queries.
- Limited contact options; overseas calls costly and long on hold; no email or text options.
BB&T Bank have "merged with", ie "been taken over by" Truist Bank. There are many errors and queries arising, but Truist have no means of contact except yoll-free' numbers whixh are far from toll free when called from overseas.
Calls to these numbers invariably put one "on hold" for several Hours, which can cost $100s at overseas call prices, and even then the "representative" cannot answer the query.
There is NO facility to contact by Email, SMS, WhatsApp or other Text message.
Truist have msgd me, possibly in response to my complaint via 'pissedconsumer' that they have sent me a "secure message" which I can read through the 'secure message center" of my online app.
But after diligent search I find NO SUCH FACILITY in the Online service. Maybe, or not, this contains an answer?

Verified Reviewer |Poor fraudulent card policy
- Fraud alert on my debit card.
- The phone line had a 60-minute wait.
- Went to the bank to cancel the card and get a temp card.
- Staff couldn't help; told to wait.
I have a fradulent alert on my debit card and I called the number provided and it has a 60
minute wait time, so I drive all the way to the bank to have my card canceled and to be given a temporary card which I have done in the past and suddenly no one there is able to help. They said I have to wait on hold before anything can be done. They couldn't provide any assistance.
- Customer service sucks
- Unable to get temporary card without sitting on hold
- Bank employees are useless

Verified ReviewerBBT CHARGES ON MY ACCOUNT
- Banker promised zero charges when balance is zero.
- A $350 charge processed despite insufficient funds; Truist paid it and charged fees.
Good morning, I am contacting you today because I've spoken to a truist rep a few days ago and I also spoke to my BBT banker in Glen Burnie about a year ago about my checking account. I'm 66 years old I'm on a limited income, I don't have no overdraft line of credit so when my balance is zero expect NO CHARGES TO GO THROUGH MY ACCOUNT.
So a year ago the banker told me they would fix my account so when my balance is zero nothing can be billed to my account! So for a year everything was fine then BBT started making a change to this TRUIST, but assured me nothing would change, so I had to talk to truist a few days ago because I had 150 Dollars in my account. I did contact nationwide to change my bill date for my insurance, but they snuck the 350 charge through. I did not have 350 so truist paid it anyway, overdrew my account and charge me a fee so I asked to speak to a manager and the CEO TO truist to explain to them that nothing is to go through my account and if I don't have the money to cover the entire charge....but it looked like TRUIST was trying to make money of if senior citizens...I've been with BBT for years....Can you please take a look at my account to see why I'm seeing these 36 dollar charged AGAIN, WHEN I Was told a few days ago and refunded the fees stated this would not happen again, they would not try to put charges against my account if I don't have the money there.
I get SSDI SO IM IN A FIXED INCOME. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP IN THIS MATTER!

- I worked hard all day for a small amount.
- An $8 fee to cash a check is outrageous.

Verified ReviewerLOST MONEY BECAUSE OF FEES!
- Acct ending 0032 was charged overdraft fees for years.
- I want to sue to recover the fees; they stopped about a year ago after a local rep.
I've had BBT Bank acct ending in 0032 for 5 plus years, I told them from the beginning that I did not want overdraft protection because I did not qualify for a overdraft line of credit. So BBT BANK still charged my account an overdraft fee of 36 dollars for years I just found out after I went back and looked through years of bank statements. I want to sue to get those fees back..
Thank you!

Verified ReviewerDisappointed at the drive thru!!
- Waited about an hour in line to reach the window.
- Missed a doctor appointment and was late; cannot reach by phone; considering changing banks.
Got in line behind 2 other cars. There were 2 cars behind me as well.
First car left after 10 minutes. I waited for another 45 minutes before I got to the window!!! Missed my Dr appointment and was late for the rest of my day. Unbelievable.
Seriously thinking about changing banks for a while.
Can not ever get anyone to answer the phone at my bank or any bank in our area. Really disappointed
Preferred solution: If a customer has an issue tell them to come inside the bank!! It's not supposed to take an hour to get through the drive thru

I'm so happy the fraud dept caught it or my entire account would have been wiped out
Thanks to them they saved it all.
Not pleased
- Suntrust branch closed after 30 years; I must move my safe deposit to BBT.
- BBT 2 PM appointment delayed; I can't cash a check at BBT though Truist.
My Suntrust branch closed near my home after banking there for over 30 years. I then was told I had to empty my safe deposit box and open a new box at BBT.
They have not made it easy. I made an appointment with BBT for 2 oclock today to open a new box. The personal banker took another client without an appointment ahead of me and Im still waiting. what was the point of making an appointment???
I called the Suntrust branch and they are closing at 330 today for an unknown reason. And closed the rest of the week for unknown reasons. How am I suppose to empty my box and get back here in time? To make matters worse.
I cant even cash my check at bbt even though they say that they are now one bank.
Truist???????? Is this any way to run a bank??????

Verified ReviewerDirect Deposit Delays
I have been waiting 5 days for the bank to process my direct deposit, I called to see if they could expedite after waiting so long, and was told that they couldn't do it until tomorrow. I'm so glad that they can get their money right away, but the rest of us have to wait for their delays.
It has gotten progressively worse since they merged with Sun Trust.
I am definitely going to be bank shopping soon. Find a customer friendly
Preferred solution: I want my direct deposit processed.
